Opening: Sat 11 March 6-8pm Appointment only: Sun 12 – Sun 26 March Nth. is thrilled to announce its next show will be a survey of contemporary art from Berlin.
Much like word construction in the German language this exhibition brings together many artists whose works, though varied, are threaded together into a singular contemporary collection. Berlin, known for hosting a great many artists, still retains its reputation for producing a great deal of artwork and creations in general. This is one compact collection selected out of the masses of work out there and lovingly brought to Melbourne via the curator’s own suitcase.
Like Berlin, the exhibition ranges widely: from the glorification of Junk food; to explorations of single cellular growth in plant life; to the macabre and magical elements of tableware; to works that make gentle fun of others, of art school and the art establishment; to an exploration of signs from the street meshing into fantastical landscapes; to clean forms that in fact allude to completely illusionary spaces; to the reanimation of museum relics into strange deities; and, dynamic collage-making events reproduced by a whole wandering community.
“From a city known for its Art this is one little snapshot of it,” says Mortreux.

composition 5, (variation on water lily theme) 2016, acrylic and aerosol on canvas, 70 x 70 cm, 27.6 x 27.6 inch
The exhibition runs from November 27th to February 17th.
Making white the protagonist of their stories, the fourteen artists featured in White On use white as both form and medium. All works in the exhibition are at least 90% white, though they present the color and absence of color in distinct and creative ways, highlighting the versatility and malleability of whiteness.
Known for pioneering the avant-garde Suprematist art movement, Kazmir Malevich created radical works that explored the aesthetic purity of form, line, and color in order to challenge viewers to flee materialism and instead turn towards inner-spirituality accessed through a universal aesthetic language. White On follows in suit to Malevich´s call for “the supremacy of pure feeling or perception in the pictorial arts.”
Like Malevich, the artists in White On explore the concept of whiteness as subject and color in unique ways, often emphasizing the infinite and eternal feelings it evokes. Using a formal and more traditional practice as their means, the artists pursue a deeply spiritual end.
White is neither neutral nor blank, and this exhibition challenges viewers to explore abstraction and minimalism through a uniquely transcendent lens. Through conceptual expression of form and color, the works highlight the artists’ profound underlying explorations that drive their multimedia works. In this sense, White On flips viewers’ understanding of white´instead of blankness or void, they present an infinite color packed with a multiplicity of meanings, messages, and meditations.
White On showcases 14 artists and features a variety of mediums including painting, installation, audiovisual works and sculptures.
The exhibit runs November 27th through February 17th coinciding with Art Basel week, during which it is open from December 01 – 09, 2016.

Group Exhibition
May 19th – July 20th 2016
Press release:
Alfa Gallery is pleased to announce Starz, a group exhibition featuring the work of Anne Wölk, Carla Fache, Rodolfo Edwards, Claudia López-Diez, Jovan Karlo Villalba, Victor Mahana and Wayne Adams. The exhibition runs from May 19th – July 20th, 2016 with an opening reception Thursday May 19th, from 6pm- 9pm “The agony of breaking through personal limitations is the agony of spiritual growth. Art, literature, myth and cult, philosophy, and ascetic disci- plines are instruments to help the individual past his limiting horizons into spheres of ever-expanding realization.” All of Starz’ artists tap into and explore Joseph Campbell’s notion of “spheres of ever- expanding realization.” Using bold colors and concepts, the artists visually articulate their unique understandings of life and their connections to a higher and greater power.
Installation view, Alfa Gallery Miami Through their work and art practice, these international artists are extremely connected to the source of the universe and act as conduits in artistically downloading new ideas and bringing them to our reality in physically aesthetic and conceptually rich forms. Starz examines this idea that artists are able to transform concepts and ideas into the physical realm. In doing so, they form a connection with viewers, thus bringing new energy and ideas to audiences through their art. Then, through the act of observing, viewers are able to process and internalize the artists’ ideas and adapt them to their own personal ideologies, thus continuing the chain of creation indefinitely.Alfa Gallery is delighted to feature Starz as its inaugural show in its new gallery space in the historic Brickell Financial District. Starz showcases all of the gallery’s artists and features a variety of mediums including conceptual sculpture, oil on canvas, audio-visual, acrylic on canvas, and oil on stainless steel.
Opening reception Thursday May 19th, 6pm- 9pm. Exclusive access to VIP – RSVP only

For the seventeenth edition of the Call (International Call for young artists) we have selected a total of 18 proposals from among the more than 500 proposals submitted. The selection of the participating artists has been at the hand of the gallery director Olga Adelantado.
For Adelantado, this year’s presentation of proposals has been similar to last year’s, as she explains: “We have noticed that the quality of the proposals has increased significantly, which indicates a greater professionalization of the artists, something that has been happening steadily in the latest editions. “She adds: “Also noteworthy is the quality of the proposals from Spanish artists with respect to previous years, a total of 13 artists, including 7 from Valencia. The Spanish are followed by the Peruvian presence with two artists, and completing the selection with one French, one German and one Swiss artist. In all, a total of 20 artists and 18 proposals”.
The artistic careers of the participants are very diverse and plural, and although their age only range from 24 and 36 years, many of them, despite being in the first stage of their career, have to their credit an outstanding record with presence in galleries and institutions, symptom of their thoroughness and professional involvement. Some have already received awards and major endorsements. The means by which they express themselves in their work are as broad and diverse as their background.
They range from photography, drawing, painting, intervention, collage and installation to sculptural objects.
The 18 participating artists of the seventeenth edition are:
Alberto Feióo (ESP), Julia Fuentesal & Pablo Muñoz de Arenillas (ESP), Usoa Fullaondo (ESP), Ainhoa Salas & Guillermo Lechón (ESP), Javier Martín (ESP), Amanda Moreno (ESP), Nina Paszkowski (SUI), Eduardo Peral (ESP), Sergio Pilan (ESP), Mercedes Pimiento (ESP), Andreu Porcar (ESP), Juan Carlos Rosa (ESP), Cristina Santos (ESP), Iván Sikic (PER), María Tinaut (ESP), Juan Diego Tobalina (PER), Camille Tsvetoukhine (FRA) y Anne Wölk (GER)
